Purpose: The Reed-Custer Educational Foundation’s purpose is to help Reed-Custer High School students and residents achieve their educational goals.

 

Student Scholarship: All eligible students may apply for up to a $1,000 academic scholarship. The scholarship may be used at any accredited four-year college or university, two-year community or junior college, or trade school in which a course of study will lead to a bachelor’s or associates’ degree or certificate. Scholarship payments will be made out to awardees’ school of choice. Scholarships will be paid in equal installments each semester.

Adult Scholarship: All adult residents (non-current RCHS seniors) of Reed-Custer School District 255U may apply for up to a $1,000 academic scholarship. The scholarship may be used at any accredited four-year college or university, two-year community or junior college, or trade school in which a course of study will lead to a bachelor’s or associates’ degree or certificate. Scholarship payments will be made out to awardees’ school of choice. Scholarships will be paid in equal installments each semester.

 

Adult Scholarship Eligibility: All Reed-Custer School District 255U adult residents who will begin college or a formal vocational training program during the summer or fall in 2019.​

 

Criteria: A committee of the Reed-Custer Educational Foundation will choose scholarship recipients based on the following criteria:

 

  • Application: Complete attached 2019 RCHS Graduate Scholarship Application.
  • Essay: Write a 500-word essay answering the question below. Essay must be double-spaced, grammatically correct and well organized.
  • What book has left a lasting impression on you?* (*Please exclude religious books.)
  • Transcripts: Need most current copy through first semester of senior year.
  • Extracurricular Activities: List your school and/or non-school activities on scholarship application form.
  • Community Service Involvement: List your community service involvement experiences on scholarship application form.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation: Letters should focus upon why the applicant is worthy of consideration for receiving the scholarship. Letters may come from teachers, coaches, employers, clergy, and community members.

Announcement of Winners: All winners will be announced at Senior Awards Night for the Student Scholarship and before Memorial Day for the Adult Scholarship.
