Reed-Custer School District 255U values parent and community involvement in our schools. A community of volunteers who dedicate their time and resources to building a solid foundation of support creates a lasting impression on staff and students alike. There are several opportunities for community engagement throughout the district, including parent-teacher organizations, booster clubs, and committee work and planning.
The volunteer opportunities are separated by school:
---------Reed Custer Elementary School Volunteers-------
FORCES (Friends of Reed-Custer Elementary School) - FORCES is a group of parents dedicated to bringing a little something extra to the students of Reed-Custer Elementry School. They raise necessary funds through Box Tops for Education and Shoparoo. The money they raise and volunteers they gather provide for things like Family Fun Night, Halloween Fun Fair, Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Egg Toss, Spirit wear, playground equipment, classroom equipment, and website subscriptions. They have a Facebook page to keep the community informed about things happening at the Elementary Schools.
Classroom Volunteer - RCES is always looking for parents looking to actively particpate in the classroom. Contact your student's teacher for details.
--------Reed-Custer Middle School Volunteers--------
Academic Booster Club - The RCMS Academic Booster Club's primary focus is on the academic issues at RCMS. It is an opportunity for middle school parents to have a direct line into their child's classroom. Meetings are held periodically throughout the school
year with the RCMS Principal. All meetings begin at 5:30pm.
Music Booster Club - The RCMS Music Boosters Club organize and host events and raise funds for Reed-Custer's several performing groups. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month inviting all parents of students involved in the music program to participate.
Book Fair Volunteers - We will need parent volunteers to help run our Fall (October) and Winter (February) Book Fairs at RCMS.
Parent Athletic Advisory Group - The RCMS Parent Athletic Advisory Group meets twice yearly to discuss the RCMS athletic program, mainly with regard to recruitment, retention, and recognition of athletes, among other topics.
If interested in volunteering at RCMS please contact Shane Trager.
---------Reed-Custer High School Volunteers---------
Reed-Custer Football Touchdown Club - Our Vision is to bring together a group of RC community members with the goal of supporting the football program as well as the community at large.
Reed-Custer Athletic Boosters - This club is formed to encourage interest, participation, and when possible, financial aid to the athletic programs of the Reed-Custer High School, Braidwood, Illinois. The club will not engage in any activity, which would hinder or interfere with the duties of the school board or the teaching staff in the administration of their duties. Monetary support will come from donations, membership fees, and from fundraising projects.
PAL (Parent Advisory Link) - PAL's is a two way communication oppurtunity for two way communication with parents and guardians of RCHS students. Topics include parent feedback and parent surveys, school improvement plans, state testing, and what is going on at RCHS. Contact
