Welcome to Reed-Custer High School for the 2017-2018 school year. It is always exciting to begin a new school year, which gives each student a fresh start and the opportunity to build on past successes. We encourage all students to get off to a good start and get involved at RCHS. We also want parents to be involved in their student’s education and in the school community. It is the shared responsibility of parents, staff and students to assure that students learn and grow throughout the educational process. In addition, RCHS is committed to provide the safest, most positive learning environment we can. To help us achieve this goal, we will continue to focus on improving our safety drills and our ALICE protocol for crisis situations.
Although we will maintain numerous elements from past years, our “Comet Time” homerooms will be moving to the end of the school day four days a week with more focus on clear RTI interventions. We will still use this time on Wednesday afternoons allowing teachers time for PLC Dept. meetings to collaborate on curriculum and instruction. We will be changing our school day to an 8:00 a.m. start and 3:00 p.m. end time with no late starts on Wednesday mornings. We will continue our pilot of Google Apps for Education for both staff and students. Lastly, the state will continue with SAT as our state standardized testing for Juniors in the spring of 2018 with our FR/SO students taking the 9/10 PSAT tests.
In closing, I would like to wish all of you the very best for a happy and successful school year. I am proud to be your principal and a part of the great tradition of excellence at Reed-Custer. I encourage each of you to do your best, work hard and bring a positive attitude to school every day so that you can reach your true potential.
