Cafeteria workers and bus drivers, thank you.

There are two groups who might get overlooked now and then who are an essential part of our school district. They each get a week to acknowledge their contribution and I hope you will find the time to show your appreciation for what they do.

Next week is National School Lunch Week. Today I went to the Primary School during the lunchtime and I saw a nutritious lunch that looked much better than I remember my lunch being when I went to school. This lunch is prepared for each of the schools by a dedicated group of food service workers who make a hot lunch program possible for our students. It is so important for our students to receive the nutrition they do so they can stay focused on learning and participating actively throughout the afternoon. These food service workers deserve our thanks and appreciation for the work they do to support our students.

The following week is School Bus Safety Week. I know the young students have talked about bus safety and are reminded when necessary by our team of drivers. These drivers get out in good and bad weather and are wholly dedicated to the safety of our students. They do an excellent job and deserve our thanks and appreciation for taking care of our children to and from school. They are always working to provide for the special needs of the students and remain attentive to the safety of their behavior while paying attention to the road and avoiding the problems other drivers present. Please say a special “Thank you” to this topnotch team of drivers who transport our students safely day after day throughout the year.

I hope to hear from several of our employees that the community has come forward to thank them for what they do. They are caring for our most precious community asset – our children – and deserve thanks each and every day for what they do. We are fortunate to have such excellent people working with us to bring bright futures to our children.
