Math Team
Description
6th Grade
Sixth grade students that enjoy mathematics are encouraged to join the Math Club. Beginning in January, these "mathematicians" meet after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Mrs. Brady. After a few months of exploring several challenging topics, the five top students compete in the Illinois Valley Conference Math Contest.
7th Grade
All students who currently have an A or B in math or pre-algebra are invited to try out for the math team.
Beginning in January, Ms. Little holds lunch meetings to cover math concepts and strategies for the contest. We have practice tests beginning in February. We will take 7 of the top students (5 compete, 2 alternates) to the IVC math contest.
8th Grade
All students are invited to practice with math teacher, Mrs. Sorensen-Davis to learn challenging math techniques. Students will practice during lunch 2 days a week for 3.5 months. After school practices are required during the last month. A few weeks prior to the IVC math contest, students who are interested in competing will compete on a run-off test. Only 5 students and 2 alternates can compete at contest.
