Scholastic Bowl

Description

Scholastic Bowl is the team that competes academically for our school. Up to 14 students from 6th-8th grades can be on Scholastic Bowl.

There are questions in core categories (English, literature, geography, history, math, and science), as well as questions in consumer education, economics, sports, and even entertainment (movies and television). Points are awarded for correct answers. We participate in conference and regional meets. For winners of these local contests, there are sectional and state meets available to compete in.

The group is organized in December/January since competitions begin in late January. Practice time is on Tuesdays, Dec.-Jan., after school to 3:30. Our competition season then runs through April. Usually we have one meet weekly, most often on Tuesdays.

This group represents RCMS not only academically, but in citizenship and school pride.
