Welcome to Reed-Custer High School for the 2022-2023 school year. It is always exciting to begin a new school year, giving each student a fresh start and the opportunity to build on past successes. We encourage all students to get off to a good start and get involved at RCHS. We also want parents to be involved in their student's education and in the school community. It is the shared responsibility of parents, staff and students to assure that students learn and grow throughout the educational process.

Our Teacher Leader team and committees are excited to continue to improve in the area of college and career readiness. We plan to resume our annual College and Career fair in the fall and students will continue using NAVIANCE throughout the school year for career cruising. We will return to having semester exams this year and plan to resinsate our attendance incentives and exam exemptions. However, students will not be able to exempt from exams in any honors level courses. We are so glad to be back to "normal" again and have students enjoy their education experience at RCHS to the fullest.

We are excited that our new turf field will be ready for completion in August of 2022 for the fall sports season. We will be entering our fifth year in the Illinois Central Eight Conference, after several decades in the Intersate-8 conference. Good luck to all our teams as they compete for ICE conference and IHSA championships throughout the school year.

In closing, it is hard to believe that this is the last time I will be writing this letter to RCHS students and parents, as I will be retiring at the end of the 2022-2023 school year. I would like to wish all of you the very best for a happy and successful school year. I am proud to be your principal and a part of the great tradition of excellence at Reed-Custer. I encourage each of you to do your best, work hard and bring a positive attitude to school every day so that you can reach your true portential. Go Comets!
