Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering

This is an academic challenge consisting of 3 events: regionals, sectionals and state.  Students take 2 tests in their choice of 7 subject areas. Top 2 Individuals will advance in each subject area to sectionals.  If they place in the top 2 at sectionals, they go on to the state competition.
The subject areas that the students compete in are as follows:  Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, English, Computer science and Engineering graphics.

The WYSE team is made up of high achieving academic students that are invited to participate on the team based on GPA's and teacher recommendations.  The team is put together in January and given test questions to help them prepare for the competitions. The regional event takes place at Kankakee Community College in February.  The sectionals take place in March at North Central College in Wheaton.  The academic challenges are sponsored by the Eastern Illinois Univerisity and the state competition is in April at the campus in Urbana.

2018-2019 will have some changes to the WYSE...stay tuned for details!
