Breakfast is available to all students in all three of our attendance centers. The Elementary School offers cereal, juice, crackers & milk.  The Middle School serves cereal, fruit, breakfast bar, juice & milk, while the High School serves cereal, bagel, fruit, breakfast bar, juice & milk,  The cost is $1.50 for full-pay students and no charge for reduced-pay students.

Free and Reduced Meal Prices

Students may qualify for free or reduced price meals if the household income falls below certain limits.  To apply for free or reduced-price meals, use the appropriate form below.  We cannot approve an incomplete application, so be sure to fill out all required information before returning the completed form to our Administration Center:

Allergy alert:  All government food products used in our lunch program contain whole-wheat grains.

Reed-Custer participates in the Federal Program-Offer Versus Serve, which means a student is not forced to take all components of a school lunch offered.  Students are REQUIRED to take ONLY 3 out of the 5 components of a school lunch daily, with at least one choice being a fruit or vegetable.  The 5 components of a school lunch are: (l) a protein item, (2) a bread item, (3) a milk item, (4) a fruit, and (5) a vegetable.  If the extra item falls into one of the above categories, it may be counted as an item.  Students are served their choice of a main item and hot items. They are handed their lunch tray, and then allowed to serve themselves to the choices of cold items.  Students are recommended to take only what they can eat.  We do not allow leftovers to be brought home.

Any questions regarding meals or prepayment should be directed to the Food Service Manager of the school the student attends. Please call between the hours of 9:00-10:00 AM or 1:30-2:30 PM.

Lunches for RCES field trips:

A sack lunch can be prepared by the food service department for an elementary school student's field trip.  The cost is the same as a tray lunch.  Parents must complete a Sack Lunch Request Form and return it to the student's teacher two (2) weeks prior to the field trip.


All schools have a computerized point of sale (POS) system.  Parents are able to prepay a sum of money to a student's account, which will then be debited for daily purchases.  A minimum amount of $20 (or $4 is a student qualifies for reduced lunch fees) is recommended.  Transactions require a student ID number, usually maintained on an ID card.  If a card is lost or damaged, there is a $5.00 replacement fee.
RCES, RCMS and RCHS students can pay cash or checks for meals; however, the prepay method is recommended as more efficient.
When sending a payment to school, the money (a check is preferred) should be put in an envelope with the following information written on the outside: student's name, grade, and account number. At RCES, the homeroom teacher's name should also be on the envelope.

Online Lunch Payments:

Funds can be added to a student lunch account with a credit/debit card through RevTrak, our online payment site. The password requested by the site is the same as the one used to view PowerSchool online. Parents with students at RCES will receive a letter with this information.  Click on the links at the top of the page for instructions or to go to the RevTrak online payment site.
​Would you like to know when your student’s lunch balance is in the negative?  If so, login to PowerSchool and select Email Notification on the left side.  This will give you a list of options to receive notifications for your students.  In addition to “Balance Alert”, you can also get notifications for other important student information. 

Summer Meal Program:

​The Illinois No Kid Hungry campaign is a partnership between Share Our Strength, the nation’s leading child anti-hunger organization, the Commission to End Hunger and partner organizations throughout Illinois. The campaign aims to end childhood hunger by using proven strategies, including increasing access to federally-funded child nutrition programs including school breakfast and summer meal programs.

To file a program discrimination complaint, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, AD-3027, found online at How to File a Program Discrimination Complaint and at any USDA office or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.
